This has probably been posted here before, but I was wondering out of the few options -Vodafone, 3, 02- which one is the best in terms of speed, download quota, and also I don't fancy much paying €120 or something up front for the modem itself.

Speed is dependend on coverage and amount of users in your area, I believe O2 has a decent enough download quota but for speed the only way to know is actually test it in your area.

Most Midband providers allow a testing period before your in a contract

If it's good, don't tell the neighbours as the speed decreases as more customers use a particular part of a mast. :)

I like your thinking, I do it myself-three broadband has actually improved, vodafone is €10 dearer with half the usage and 02 isn't good... I'm looking for o2 broadband for €13 a month(student rate but dont have a student card:(:() Then I can hopefully wizz around as very little are on o2 bb here:)
