I saw this film last night on Film4. I thought it was one of the most powerful, thought provoking movies Ive ever seen with the performance of Nicole Kidman particularly brilliant. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasnt seen it. There are also 2 followup movies to this film, titled "Manderlay" and "Washington". Could anyone who has seen either of these please give their verdict

Curiously enough it's actually going to be called Wasington (without the H). I also think Dogville and Manderlay are great movies. I've never seen so many people walk out of a theatre as I did during Dogville. I think most of the patrons were expecting something different to what they got. Lars Von Trier really is one of the more interesting directors around today.

I loved Dogville it at the time. Specially the ending.

Manderlay was kind of more of the same only a lot less impressive in terms of cast/story in my view.

If it ever gets made. Von Trier has had some kind of breakdown and dosent think he will no be able to make it.

Manderlay is a strange beast. I caught it on its release in the IFI. The credit seuence once again has Bowies Young Americans. But this time it plays over a montage of black slaves being hung. Every single person in the cinema started to cry. It was a very powerful ending
