High Quality Reverbs

I'm looking for a proven quality reverb pref external or DSP based.
I can't quite afford a PCM81 even second hand as I've money being spent on other gear but have been looking at the Lexicon MX300 & MX400XL. I also made the decision to get a UAD-2 DSP card. There are 3 reverbs available on the UAD2 but I am unsure of the quality in comparison to the Lexicon of which the research I have done seems to say is a very high quality Reverb.
So really , the question is do I need to buy the Lexicon or will the UAD-2 reverbs hold their own in comparison.
I should really go out there, get Demos and let my ears decide but I'm really pushed for time so wanted to see what other's thoughts were

    Regards

    Rob

If you have an impulse response 'verb such as space designer or altiverb, you should check out acousticas' lexicon library. I got it a couple of months ago and it is great. The room ambiences are exceptional on it. acousticas.net
Also ik multimedia CSR is pretty good.

I use the free SIR version 1 impulse reverb and use the lexicon samples as trackmix has said , its very very good and its very very free.

    cpu hit is small

also try the free AMBIENCE reverb - but this is hard on the cpu .

Hi lads.. Hi have ambience and have used it. I've heard the Waves & Altiverb & have tried "versions" of the Wizooverb VST. But specifically I am looking for the Highest quality Hardware or DSP based system I can afford regardless of CPU hit of software VSTs. Although control over the parameters via a frontend gui such as the MX300/400 Lexicon is ideal.
My original idea was to get a 2nd hand Lexicon PCM81 or 91 but they are a little out of my price range.
Specifically I'm trying to gauge whether the UAD reverbs are up to quality of the slightly cheaper lexicon reverbs like the MX300/400 series to save the purchase of both and then end up only using the UAD.

perhaps I should get up off my lazy ass & walk over to Xmusic lunchtime.. see problem is music store sales people don't exactly rush around and some of us are working 2 jobs at the moment so it's hard to find time to demo stuff.

    Regards

    Rob

if you're going for a uad-2 the plate reverb is more than capable for the job.

Doing the exact same as DaDumTish here- I think it sounds excellent and as pointed out its free!

will do the job. Theres another free one as well that has less latency than SIR.

Then go to www.noisevault.com and download all the free Impulse Responses they've got. Et voila, a smorgasboard of all the decent digital reverbs ever made, some springs, plates and some real spaces too.

Kjerhaus "Classic Reverb" is quite nice too, for a freebie, as is Glaceverb and, um, FreeverbToo, I seem to remember, but that might be a little long in the tooth by now.

Oh and RetroDelay is a nice free simulation of a tape-delay, which has a spring reverb simulation built in. Fantastic plugin and free: Sort of Roland Space echo thing for vintage/trashy verbs. You can turn off the delay and just use the spring verb if you want that vintagey Lee Scratch Perry kinda sound.

Voxengo Pristine Space is the best way for hosting IRs for my money, and I think its probably under a 100 by now.

    Theres another Company that makes
