Hiro and Ando drove around Las Vegas (and other places) in a Nissan Versa.

Nissan Versas have No Air Conditioning.

    How the hell

I believe this would involve the mighty power of heroic product placement. They had invisible assistants in the back of the car, fanning them with all the $100 bills that Nissan paid for the prime-time advertising...

The 2007 Nissan Versa, for one, provides comfortable seating for four (with tighter quarters for five), standard side- and side-curtain airbags, air conditioning, a spacious interior and cargo area, and four-season-friendly front-wheel drive.

    What about the 2006 model?

    Far worse in recent movies:

X:Men 3 - Mercedes G-class ad seen on back of magaine beast is reading. When magneto moves the golden gate bridge and loads of cars are getting totalled, a brand new, shiny and undented M-class is perfectly centred in the shot.

Iron Man: Ok, the R8 was cool and I don't begrudge the use of that. However, when Iron Monger goes to throw a Q7 at Ironman (he lifts it up and doesn't even ding a bumper or crack a headlight!) I was reminded of The Simpsons; "Mattel and Mars Bar Quick Energy Chocobot hour".

Put down those entertaining mattel action figures!

    EDIT: I nearly forgot Transformers!

Pictures might also be of use here. At least the Versa was better integrated and less like a blatant advertisement.

    Best thread ever. LMAO.

I'm so glad someone else does the same thing I do. We are watching a show about superpowers and we can't get our heads around the air conditioning problem!! Ha. I love it. Whatever you do don't watch Prison Break. That show is 40 minutes of "wait a minute thats not possible".

The worse fim i came across for ad placement was I Robot with will smith

    Police chief "hey nice shoes"
Will smith "yeah converse vintage 2005" or something.

Also Cloverfield with its Nokia placment.

how can you say the versa was not a blatant advertisement? they only mentioned it umpteen times. it was only the first page of every web comic.

@gauge: AC is not standard on the versa base model.

Speaking of transformers its disgusting that just about every car in that film was a chevy.

There was also the craptacular Knight Rider 2008 movie/backdoor pilot from last year that turned into the even more craptastic series this year. That was a 1:30 long Ford commercial as every single car in it was a Ford... Can't get any more blatant that IMO...

When I say blatant I mean visually, but I suppose you are right that Hiro's insistence on a versa "because Isaac painted it" was ridiculous as it didn't matter what car they drove as long as they got to wherever they were going.

Just googling around and other famous examples include The Island, the aforementioned I Robot, Blade Trinity for the tacky use of the iPod as a vampire-fighting accessory and of course Transformers.

Anyone remember "The Wizard"? The movie they made as one long nintendo advert? I really wanted one of those power glove yokies...I guess it worked!

    SHUT UP.

The Wizard was our first glance at Super Mario Bros. 3

If I had the physical facility back then, I would have creamed in my denim toddler-overalls.
