    Hmm..looks like this pack is going to be a bit more substantial than expected!

    Here's the pack's icons from the PSN store, showing the costumes:

    mgslbp.jpg

    But it's not just costumes..if you check your trophies now after the v1.06 update for LBP, you'll see these new additions which clearly relate to new Metal Gear Solid levels, and a new power-up - a paintball gun! Here's all of them:
    QuickFire Artiste
    Fire 40 paintballs in under 5 seconds

    Rexecutioner
    Destroy the Metal Gear REX boss

    Ace Act 3 and Act 4
    Ace Act 3: The Mission and Act 4: The Level Factory

    Ace Act 5: The Boss
    Ace Act 5: The Boss

    Paint Splurge
    Fire 5,000 paintballs

    Diamond Hunter
    Destroy the 5 hidden target diamonds in Act 4: The Level Factory

    Thrifty Painter
    Complete Act 3: The Mission firing less than 125 paintballs

    METAL GEAR SOLID® Booty Master
    Collect all of the METAL GEAR SOLID® prize bubbles

    Paint Sharer
    Publish a level containing the METAL GEAR SOLID® Paintinator Powerup

    Virtual Survivor
    Achieve a score of 3,750 in the VR Survival Challenge

    Speedy Rexecutioner
    Destroy the Metal Gear REX boss in under 2 mins 30 seconds

    Looks like 4 levels and a mini-game (VR Survival Challenge). Can't wait for this! Most excited for the gun though..should open up obvious new avenues for gameplay mechanics in LBP levels. Word is it'll be out next week, just in time for Xmas :)

    http://news.littlebigworkshop.com/en-us/post/2008/12/Metal-Gear-Solid-hits-LBP-for-the-Holidays--1223!.aspx
    Metal Gear Solid Premium Level Pack for $5.99 which fills your Pop-it tool with a ton of MGS-themed “Create” materials, objects and stickers plus a whole lot more.

    Things like-

    * A 5th Sackboy costume…the Gurlokovich Soldier (see above).
    * 72 New Stickers
    * 12 New Materials
    * 10 New Decorations
    * 18 New objects
    * New background music track
    * 3 new interactive music tracks
    * New Metal Gear Solid themed ‘sound object’
    * New Plasma Ball ‘danger element’
    * New Laser Sight ‘gadget’
    * New functioning Searchlight lamp
    * 12 new Trophies to unlock
    * and best of all.....THE PAINTINATOR and Paint Switch

    The other costumes are seperate - $5.99 for the pack of the other costumes too, or $1.99 each. I guess you can figure out the price on the PAL store from those numbers by comparing to other stuff..

    Also, here's how the paint gun works:
    Shoot paintballs with the R1 button and using the right stick to aim. Paintballs will hit very weak slap. Shoot ‘Brains’ from a safe distances now and progress thru levels much easier. The Paint Switch, so you can attach it to any object and set it to destruct after being splattered with enough paint.

    Also, as you'd expect, non-owners of the DLC will still be able to enjoy user-created levels using the new objects/materials/gun etc. etc.
    Now if you don’t buy it, no worries, you’ll still be able to enjoy the MGS fun! Non-MGS Level Pack owners can PLAY the MGS Story Levels by joining a “host” who owns the pack and play the levels online together. You won’t be able to keep any objects, but you can experience the new features. MGS Level Pack owners will also be able to CREATE levels with any of these items (including the Paintinator) and SHARE them online for everyone to play.

    Sounds and looks pretty frickin' awesome!

    I've never bothered buying DLC for either the PS3 or the Xbox360 but I think this may the first one I actually pay for! Looks great :).

    Hi lads,

    Could someone please explain the aim of Little Big Planet? The girlfriend got it for the PS3 she got me for Christmas but I don't understand the aim of the game...?

    Is it simply a platform game in which you have to collect bubbles (only played 10 minutes...) or is the appeal mostly to do with creating levels and sharing them online? I just don't get it TBH. It seems to be a non-game if you see what I mean...

    I'd say the major appeal is the ability to create your own levels and customize just about anything you can think of, then share them online. Like the short intro says, it's all about peoples' imagination :). There are even levels out there that are not really levels, in that you don't have to do anything, but show incredible use of the tools available for building things (try the "Sweet Child O'Mine" level and you'll see what I mean). There are also a ton of levels inspired by other games (kind of like what the Metal Gear DLC is) which can be pretty hilarious too - I was just playing a "Dead Space" level the other day...

    But yeah, it's more about what you can imagine and then create I think, rather than a set goal - which in fairness, is what I'm used to in most games: shoot everyone, get from A to B, win the race, etc. This game doesn't really follow most of those ideas at all...

    i was a little wary of this game as well. i couldnt understand what the point of it was. then i got it and its just brill. myself and my wife cleared the story mode and its great.

    Thank you for making this much clearer for me guys! I think I'll give LBP another go ASAP! I actually enjoyed the 20 minutes or so I spent on it the other day. It looked great and it made us laugh too!

    I don't have an ounce of creativity in me though so I don't think I'll be designing anything any time soon... :(

    have you guys created levels I could visit? If so, how do I do this? < n00b alert! :rolleyes:
