My mother made one 14 months ago and hasn't opened it. It has a lot of whiskey in it. Is it still safe to eat or should we give it to the birds?

We'll be having one we made in November 2006. If it's been stored ok then should be no problem They improve with age.

Great :D. Thanks. We'll open it so! We threw out one last year that was a year old and it smelled fantastic! The birds were dropping from the branches with all the alcohol in it!

Sure open it and have a taste. If it's not all green and hairy - it should be purrrfect :)

The older the better (within reason, of course!).
