Can anyone recommend a good gaming joypad (or mouse) out on the market at the mo. Do logitech make joypads and are they any good

Ideally I'd be looking for a wireless one.

Theres a very very big difference between a joypad and mouse... If you want a joypad, get an adapter for the 360 joypads

yah thers a lil usb gadget you can get to use ps or etc controllers

    Hi guys,

Defin a difference between the two but basically what I'm looking for is something to be able to play games like crysis without resorting to use the keyboard which I'm not too fond of doing for any game.

So if there is a mouse that allows me to do this then great although I did'nt know about the adapter for using PS controllers. You're telling me this will work with the PS3 controller?

Get a wired xbox360 controller its the best game pad around. The wireless one works too if you really want it but you need an extra wireless adaptor for the PC.

+1 for xbox wired pad, been using for over 2 years. a lot of new games have full support for it (lego batman being the most recent one i used it on, by full support i mean no need to manually assign buttons there is a config already set up for it in the game), however for 1st person shooters theres no substitute for mouse and keyboard and many of those wont let you remap to a pad properly. And if playing a FPS in multiplayer forget about a joypad you'll just get destroyed !!!!! m+kb faster and more accurate

xbox controllers are very ergonomic, and if you fancy you can add on a mini-keyboard or a mic. Not sure if any of that works on the PC as I dont own any of it :p I only covet what I dont have.

I've been using the wireless xbox 360 pad on my pc for over a year now. Theres a usb receiver with it and you can also use the pad with an xbox.
Crysis, GTAIV, Assasins creed, Fifa09, Fallout 3 are games I use it with and theres absolutly no set-up invoved (as in assigning keys to xbox buttons) just plug and play.

If its first person shooters you're playing, get a proper good mouse, nothing beats the control of a mouse

indeed, 360 wired controller is awesome, just plug it in and worry no more, no need to install drivers. As for a mouse its really personal choice. Go into pcworld or peats as they usually have these out of the packaging so you can see hwo it feels in yoru hand. Then go and buy it cheaper on line from somewhere like komplett.ie or dabs.ie

Fps should be played with keyboard and mouse tbh.

Failing that the 360 pad is the way to go.

Couldn't agree more with pog and creamy goodness (it felt wrong typing that out :D). The mouse is the way to go with first person shooters.

2nd vote for the Logitech G5 for online shooters.

    Microsoft Habu

With its comfortably built Slick shape, and stylish blue glow its Perfect, easy to adjust API for them tricky sniping situations!

Deffo Reccomend it, and joypads are way slower than mice. Get a Habu mouse and a Saitek 2 eclipse Keyboard, it changes 3 colours including the same colour as the Habu, so they are the Perfect match! Its All blue. Although I prefer the purple on the eclipse as its the clearest.

    Check it out. \/ \/ \/

Thanks for the all the replies. Coming from a console generation I'm more used to joypads then the mouse and keyboard, this is my first year to get a high powered pc instead of a console :)

I very much doubt I would be much competition when it comes to first person shooters whether I had a pad or a mouse as I don't play online that much anyway, although that's something I'm going to have to remedy :D

I'll probably get the xbox controller but could someone tell me does it have the usb key with it or do I have to pay extra for that

NEW USB Cable Adapter For XBOX Controller to PC

I agree with everyone keyboard and mouse for fps.
The wired xbox360 controller is usb, the wireless one needs a wireless receiver or get a package like this.

BaRcOe, i think that is for the old xbox controller not the xbox360.

    Honestly yhwh, get both,
buy a proper gaming mouse for FPS games and get a 360 controller as well for those other games. You'll not believe the control with a mouse till You try it (thats why You should get a good one with high dpi) and it doesn't really take long to get used to (a few hours), same as getting used to a new controller really

For FPS, RPG + RTS once you go mouse+kb you never go back. And all the best games on pc are either FPS, RPG or RTS. I have an Xbox 360 controller and I only use it for console ports that were designed with a controller in mind such as Dead Space and Tomb Raider Underworld.
