Hey, I'm looking for night vision goggles as a gift, but I have no idea what exactly I'm looking for. Any suggestions of what to buy and where to buy it?

    Thanks.

    Hey Helena

Are you looking for goggles or a monocular. What kind of range do you think they will be used, big garden, a full field, across a valley?

If you describe what you need them for people might be able to comment appropriately.

Good ones are very expensive ( you could be rich though) they can cost 1500-2000

Cheap ones are quite acceptable with a seperate infra red illuminator

Yep I'm minted - seriously though, no i think cheap ones will do.

Not exactly sure what they are wanted for, I'd assume lamping (could be way of there though), so a full field. Not sure if it's goggles or a monocular, which do you think would be best?

Now infa red etc - I have no idea. I want somethng that will allow the man to see in the dark. :D

You have to forgive me for my lack of knowledge, I really have no idea what I'm looking for.

Most of the major camera shops will stock monocular ranging from 150 to 300 euro. Lidil and Aldi sometimes have them. They can be got quite easy seen plenty of them in camera shops in dublin..

    Hi Helena,

This is my one. It is a monocular & is good for about 50-60 yards in a dark field. It also has an Infa Red (IR) button to brighten the subject. This was about $200 a few years ago but can be bought for around the €100-150 mark here, as already stated, in good camera shops or Aldi/Liddl.

I use mine for spotting wildlife at night, purely nature watching.

    Hope that helps.
