Hi,
I was just wondering, how many weeks in advice do you to get your vacinations for Thailand?

Also, anybody think the political situation might came down soon?

One last one, when does the Monsoon season begin?

Think its 6 weeks or around that, personally I never bother getting vacs for Thailand but different folks and all that...have a scout on the Tropical Medical Centers site, there may be something there http://www.tmb.ie/


Political situation is carrying on a bit, new PM installed today and now the Thaksin camp are protesting over that. Wouldn't worry too much about it, now that the airports are re-opened you shouldnt have any major problems.

Regarding the Vacs it depends where in Thailand you are going and what your planning to do....ie if you are going trekking - you will need rabies injection etc.. Been to Thailand for the past three Summers and trust me get them - I have heard and witnessed the horror stories of not getting injections and knowing a little bit about the culture before you go.

The political situation seems to have died down , we were there at the beginning of September heading home and the protests had just begun if u stay near Khao San Rd and head towards MBK (huge Shopping Mall) you'll come into contact with it but Thais are out for money and keep the tourists happy so showing the Western World its safe is very important to them!! We didnt feel scared at all walking past the riot police or anything they were actually quite friendly! But the situation did escalate after.

Hey sorry to hijack your thread OP just wondering any advise on where to rent a decent villa for a few weeks around the puket area?

We will be heading from OZ and will be meeting family in Thailand and we told them they just need to fly we will sort out accom but as usual the websites are way over priced so planning at this stage to head out before them and have a look see what we find.....

Depends on what time of year - now is high season over there - Not really familiar with the story during high season. During low u can walk in to a hotel ad negotiate a price after seeing a room - depending on How many ppl and how long!!! There real good at bartering. We have never used online bookings.
We did use a tourist agent once - it was on Koh Phi Phi and the hotel told us to book with a travel agent as it was cheaper than the hotels prces - and it was - but I'd say it was another Thai Scam 2 rip off farangs!!

If ur looking for a nice Family holiday I would avoid - Patong - Depending on what ur in2 but its full of prostitutes and you see some disturbing sights( Im 23 by the way and I will never forget Patong and the filth u see) It is certainly not the real Thailand!!!

Kata and Karon are cool laid back beaches!! When in Phuket dont miss Phuket Fantasea - Google it - The say its the best show on earth - Id agree - truely fantastic!

Yea my GF went to Pattaya before by mistake (not looking it up on a last minute booking) just stayed in hotel room for the week sick place
