Freesat Foxsat HD - Clock Display & Other Issues

Can anyone tell me what is normally displayed on the front of a Freesat/Humax Foxsat HD box while in standy mode?

I've had mine a couple of weeks and every time I powered it down it just showed a single red diode. A couple of nights ago it actually showed the time on the LED, last night it was back to the diode.

What is the box supposed to display?

Does anyone know of a forum for bugs with these boxes? Its been generally problem free, but once it reset when coming out of HD mode on ITV

My box sometimes fails to respond to the remote (seems to be happening more frequently too :( ). Its not the batteries as they are fresh ones, very frustrating!

In standby mine goes dark with just the red led displayed. Never seen it display a clock on the front ever - even when on.

I thought it downloaded a new software update when I first installed it however I have done a factory reset since then. The firmware version I have is 1.00.14, apparently 1.00.15 is the current one although it says there is no software available when I try to automatically update it.

unplug from mains for a few minutes, factory reset, then try for update.

Unplugged it, waited and tried to do factory reset but unfortunately the box is not accepting remote commands so I can't enter the password to complete the factory reset

There's one or two suppliers on ebay selling replacement remotes for the Humax - not OEM though

Its possible its the remote - however when the box is not responding to the remote I previously tested if it was emitting IR signals by getting a digital camera and pointing it at the top of the remote and by pressing a button on the remote I could see the IR bulb light up through the camera's screen.

Ok, I might have hit on what the problem is.

I have two sat cables coming to a dual sat socket (from maplin) and I have a Sky box and the Freesat box connected to this dual socket. Both boxes take power from a double socket.

I tried unplugging the sat cable and the power cable from the sky box and so far tonight I have not have any remote issues with the Freesat box as before. Therefore, I'm thinking that there is some electrical feedback problem caused by the Sky box when connected as it is in my setup which borks up the freesat box.

Answer to original problem located on digitalspy:

if you've got power save enabled the clock doesn't show when in standby. As far as I know the clock doesn't show when the box is on. It only shows when power save is disabled and the box is in standby.
