    Hi,

Am a bit strapped at the moment but would possibly purchase in a sale.
    Thanks

anyone out there got opinions on the 40v4000. there are very mixed reviews but at this price, it has to be a buy !!!!! waiting for a reply from john too about shipping.

Please tell us what the story is if you find out.

I'm looking to get a 40W4000 from RS shipped down to Cork for 700£. Am actually plannin to ring Belfast or John or whatever tomorrow The W is a bit better than the V but the V would be the one to go for if it could be got for 520£ delivered. Thats an unbelievable bargain.

I saw the W4000 on ibood the other day for €699.99 and went into harvey norman to see what price it was there.
The V4000 was €1299 and the W4000 was €1699.99 so for the £500 this is a fantastic bargain.
I wonder is it similar to other bricks and mortar where the first 10 or 20 people in the door would get the tv for that price.

Let us know if you hear anything.

    Cheers

    B~

It was the 40V4000 that was 700e on ibood. Yes the W4000 is absolutely ridiculously priced down alright. I find that particularly strange considerin that there is'nt a whole lot of difference between it and the 40V4000. Mpeg4 DTT tuner is the main one really

personally, i think you should pay in sterling through the credit card. will get the best rate at about 94-95p to the euro.will work out about 520-530 euro plus delivery which i think will be about 20 euro.

just found out its only for people calling to the shop, so looks like first come first served. now to decide whether it would be worth the gamble to make the long trip from galway.........

I wouldn't. According to a poster on AVForums, they were told by a RS guy that there's 37 sets available for all 47 shops (that's 37 total, not 37 per shop). Could be nonsense, but I'd say not.

    Guys,

OK first to deal with the rumour that there are only 37TV's in the whole Company - that is rubbish - however we do have a limited stock and they will almost certaintly be gone on the 1st day - however we do hope to get more stocks in early Jan.

We open for our sale on the 27th Jan - that's the 27th -

WE ARE NOT OPEN BOXING DAY - THE 26TH!!

We do open at 9am on the 27th and we have double figures of both the 32 and the 40 Sony available at £299.95 and £499.95 available for in-store collection on that day - however it is a 1st come 1st served deal!

We will have 10's of deals across the board on the 27th and through January.

To answer an earlier query - we do accept Euro however we would genrerally suggest that you are better off paying in Sterling at the moment due to the excellent rate of exchange.

And finally please note that the Sony 32 and 40 V4000 offer is only for personal shoppers and we cannot ship to the south, :( - as ever please drop us a mail to johnmc@richersounds.ie or sales@richersounds.ie if we can assist in any way,

    John Mc

To give you an idea I got 0.885 to the euro on my laser card up the north last Tuesday and .905 on my CC. Rate on the day was about .925. There was no fee for using my CC (there was when I used in the USA in Nov of 2.5%). So CC is def the way to go.

Anyone got any idea - Is there any chance both a 32" and 40" LCD tv would fit in a normal 3 door car (Audi A3) or would it be a wasted journey attempting to fit 2 TVs into the car for transport home?

I think they would - with the rear seats folded down of course. These LCD's are neither heavy nor overly bulky. The sony site gives you the box dimensions for some of the sets, so out with your measuring tape :)

    Guys,

    Thanks for the comments:

    On the housekeeping front:

Yes, the Sale Starts Saturday December 27th at 9AM (Please speak quietly as all the lads will be sporting large hangovers!)

Yes, the Sony 32V3000 at £299.95 and the Sony 40V4000 at £499.95 are limited to one per Customer - we have already had several competitors trying to buy them - however they are reserved strictly for genuine in-store Customers on the day!

We have loads of other deals available and as normal the sale usually gets a second burst of life in the 1st week January when we receive our 1st delivery of the new year.

If there are any products you are looking for - please do email us to johnmc@richersounds.ie or sales@richersounds.ie - we are getting back on top of email replies at the moment - as these have been a little ignored over the last couple of days as it was all hands on deck in the shop.

Thanks to all the Boardies we have seen in-store over the last couple of days - great to see you (and I told you the traffic was not too bad!) - and don't forget if you are in-store please mention that you are a Boardie and we will try to do you an even better deal!

    Thanks again,

    John Mc

Which Credit card are you using as I use MBNA and there is a 2.65% fee for transactions outside euro zone.

Okay, I wouldn't mind calling into the shop Saturday morning for one of those 40" Sonys, but what are the chances of me getting one if I turn up at 9 - I would hate to drive three hours (Drogheda-Belfast & back) for nothing..! :D

PS: If John can guarantee me a set, I can also pick up one of two other items if anyone want me to and if it would fit into an Honda Accord. :o

My VIsa is 1.5% only for non euro transactions no matter what, even taking out your own money. No other charges though

I'm thinking about heading up for that tv aswell.

It seems to work out at around 520-530 euro at the minute.

While it's sitting pretty in my local DID at €900.

    Not Your Ornery Onager

Check before you travel - they had a limited amount of them, and I'd be surprised if they have any left!

I think they are all out, I checked the site this morning and it was removed from it.

I too made the trip and picked the 40v4000 up on the 27th. When I was there just after 10 they where flying out the door and Kenny said they had sold 6-7 of them in the first hour, crazy!

    Guys,

I just checked with our UK purchasing dept yesterday and they confirmed that we will not be getting any more Sony 32 or 40V4000's at the moment - which is a bit of a bummer really, as anyone who was up with us on the 27th saw they were flying out of the shop!

We are working on a number of specials for the 1st & 2nd week in Jan so we will keep you posted and we do expect stocks to start recovering next week!

Thanks again and always drop me a line to john mc@richersounds.ie if we can assist in any way,
