Hi All,

My Name is Trev I run a thing called GigSmart. We were founded serveral years ago (Aug 2000- ish) as a bands co-operative. Our aim was to tackle the pay to play policy of many promoters in Dublin at the time.

We've run many gigs over the years with vary degrees of success, some went well some not so well.

We've released singles, albums and organised tours nationally again some went well some not so well.

Our main idea as an organisation is to get a base of bands and people ineterested in running gigs and getting everyone pulling their weight. Typically we split costs and share the spoils of war evenly (the riches to be had)...its worked well in most instances.

Anyway its been a while since GigSmart was what you'd call active so we're teaming up with The Button Factory, Elektra / Sound Training Centre to have a crack at running something for bands next year. Its more or less a project coordinated over 7 - 8 months

It may not be for everyone and thats fine. Its essentially an effort to run a few decent nights with some output at the end.
