Not that it matters to me, what's the Euro ruling on the santa hats? Over or under helmet (if worn)? Inside or outside straps? Team-branded or not? If you wear a blue jersey must you also have a blue hat?

Would love to go since it would be my last spin here till January. But the way things are going, I'll probalby still be working on Saturday.

I'm probably out, family over from foreign.

Euro rules: possibly sans helmet is the only way to pull it off, but given the boardsies track record with crashes, that is not advisable.

It's a touch breezy now ..........and, apparently for the weekend.
Would want to be heading South into the wind to start off and then unfurl the sails on the way back?

I think I'll be up for this, as long as its not too early a start.
Bit fooked after my first full week of commuting, so I think I'll put on some thinner tyres this time.

If it's this windy tomorrow, I may be up 3rock instead..

My cold is progressing so I'm not sure about my participation any more. Might try to get out and tag along for a bit at least if it is not pissing rain.

I've just had 2 tubes explode during pumping. So for that reason, I'm out.

They were up the top of the hill on Pineforest Road, not sure what animal (goat?) but it had horns. Since I got back, around six hours ago, my heartrate has been up between 105-120, not dropping below 100. I checked with finger on the neck and the HRM is accurate. A bit concerned about that as "normal" resting heart rate for me is more like 55-65. I have been lying in bed or seated in a chair, not doing anything. I think I may have a slight temperature but that HR seems very elevated to me.

Grand, let me know. If you're not feeling up to it, I might just head off in the morning so!

Im no Doc but Ive experienced similar % increases in resting hr when Ive a chest infection or the like (as in at the moment). Training zones for me go out the window when Ive a cold coming on or have had to take a course of antibiotics.

Quick question on the heart rates ... I've often read on the interweb (source of all useful and correct information .. :)) that an elevated heart rate indicates over training or that your body is not rested properly. And even a change of a couple of beats per minute first thing in the morning is a sign to take things light ...

With that context .. I find my "normal" resting heart rate to be +/-3 which is a 6bpm range ... is that normal .. and what about Blorg's +/-5 range .. surely that is huge ..

Again, Im no expert on this - just something Ive noticed myself. Yep - alot of articles relate an increased resting HR to overtraining - whether they're accurate or not is another thing.

At the moment Ive been battling the current dose doing the rounds - have resisted antibiotics but know my resting HR is elevated compared to normal - by how much ? - not so sure. But the point is my body is at work fighting the good fight. Will I train like this ? probably ... long slow stuff ... either in a pool or on a long cycle - but I feel like Ive seen off the worst of it now and reckon a little bit of excercise will help me sweat it out and keep me sane.

The point Im attempting to make is that your body can be doing lots of things that cause your resting HR to change - but 3 or 5 beats per minute IMHO wouldnt be a whole lot.

Assuming you're measuring your resting HR immediately after waking up then it may be slightly elevated if you ate late the night before ... since Blorgs posts prior to his HR related one talked of him feeling pretty crap ... I reckon it might be down to him having a dose.

Typically Ive a resting HR of around 42,45 .. but if it was at 47 one morning I wouldnt get too worried about it relating to over training ..

Everyone is different however. Unfortunately Vague ;)

Thanks interested, I definitely have a dose, no question about that! Have been sick since last Wednesday, seemed to be getting better over the weekend but then got a whole lot worse last night. I would expect an elevated heart rate when sick but _double_ my normal scared me. It's certainly not overtraining; I have been doing very little the last month :(

The 55-65 I was quoting was really just a bit of a guess as to the lowest numbers I have seen on my HRM while at rest, e.g. not moving, it was not a "first thing in the morning before you get out of bed" number. I'm pretty sure I have gone below 55 for that matter but 55-65 would be typical for that.

I was solid 105-120 until around 23:00 last night (six hours) when I took some Paracetemol and it went down to around 80. Was around 80 when I woke up this morning, that is still elevated but not as crazy.

Again, Im no Doc - but dont suppose you took your temperature ? From my own perspective Ive seen this (but not for that amount of time) before if Ive got a temperature of the flu coming on. Im guessing most of the time I dont notice it since I dont always wear my HRM. If you saw a decrease in HR when you popped paracetamol - it may have helped with a fever and the HR dropped accordingly.

At 80 first thing in the morning, for a guy that regularly spins for 100km at good pace - thats very elevated - assuming you were'nt eating steak at 2am or at a club taking red bull til 4 this morning. If I was you Id wear the HRM today - but inevitably I reckon you should take yourself along to the docs before heading back out on the bike. I bit the bullet under severe pressure from Mrs Interested and spent 2 hours in a Dr's surgery saturday morning with about 15 other victims of the same dose it appeared. He reckoned my 'overdose on Rubex and aloe vera juice' was a little unusual but left it up to me to take antibiotics ...

I really must take a closer look at my HR though tonight. Ive been struggling since last Thursday - havent done a tap of any kind since then. Ive been at work but I know when it comes to excercise its a different kettle of fish. Id planned my traditional long spin tomorrow and the weather is shaping up perfectly.
