Sharing iPod material

Folks, looking for help on an issue that I'd like to resolve

I have an ipod with about 3000 tracks on it which are all on my pc.

My mate has an ipod with about 1400 tracks on his - he's off to Oz next week and would like to get much of my material "added" to his ipod.

In turn, I wouldn''t mind uploading some of his music onto my pc and downloading to my ipod.

He's aware that if this is successful, it will only last until the next time he synchs with another pc (which of course if it's own one, he could always upload his material first could he not ?)

Anyway, my main question is - can I do the above and how do I do it without either wiping his ipod or my own when synching against my pc ?

Appreciate any responses as I need to do this prior to Xmas as he travels on the 26th..................thanks

Firstly, knock of the 'sync' on your ipod and you'll be able to hook up to any library on any computer and manually drag music accross onto your ipod.

There are many programs to transfer from your ipod to computer. I've used sharepod. http://www.getsharepod.com/download. Go to explorer on your pc, click on your ipod and past the sharepod .exe file into the directory. Doubleclick on the sharepod application and click on the music you want to export.

If its a Ipod Touch, you'll have to use something like Touchcopy http://wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy because Ipod Touch does not have a disc mode, i.e, you can't see it in windows explorer. I bought this, cost 25 dollars, but well worth it.
