Signed Giggsy shirt?

Useless @ buyin presents but was thinkin of gettin my bf a Man U jersey. Then I'd the brainwave of gettin a signed one by Giggs [that hopefully doesn't cost too much!]. Was going to buy one on eBay & was almost sucked in by all the promises of COA's but then realised I was most likely being scammed in a "too good to be true, it probably is!" kinda way!

Is a jersey an acceptable gift? Along with a few other little things that I know he'd like. Was going to book tickets to a match but they were quite expensive also and would I be expected to book flight tickets then also or what? Ahhhh help! :)

PS AH is probably the wrong place to post this but apparently I have to apply for access or something of the sort for the soccer forum and I don't have time, I NEED ANSWERS NOW! :)

Just get him a man u jersey and sign it from giggsy yourself. He'll never know the difference.

    Don't sign it.

Tickets for the match should include flights + Accom.

I should have guessed I'd get a comment like that eh :) Yes it's crossed my mind but I would just like to get a proper thing with a COA. Bad idea good idea? I'm thinkin it's gettin so late now I'll just be getting a jersey! If that at all!

I'm sure that's what the people selling them on eBay do anyway. :D

Where would I get reasonably priced tickets then? They don't go on sale until a few weeks before the match do they? I'm a Pool fan but I've researched that Man U v Pool would cost quite a bit, and as am a girl am not really prepared to pay that much to see a few fellas kick a ball [and maybe not even score a goal! :(]

If you had of asked nicely you might have got Soccer access pretty quick but you didn't.

Flights + match tickets + beer money + jersey = acceptable

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 494 ✭✭dcukhunter

Most on ebay will be fake all you need for a coa is a printer and a laminater a good few I have seen dont even use the laminater but its mainly the thought that counts as long as it looks good i'd say go for it. I got one before for a friend and they loved it even though it most likely was a fake.

    You forgot blowjobs.

    You forgot blowjobs.

Only before and after though. Last thing you want is your bird goin to the game with you and crampin your style with questions about the offside rule and why there haven't been any goals yet.

We're not going out years! Just a few [4] months! Twas his birthday a week ago as well so don't wanna be going overboard! Plus I figure if I start small this year, if he's around next year, I can slowly but surely increase the present fund! ;) Hmmm a fake.... don't know if he'd be too happy with that. I'm crap at all this football lark but he's stone mad on it. Grr. Typical. Why couldn't he like shoes or something that I'm knowledgeable about..... [going to ZZZ land now. Can't. Stay. Awake. Think of some good [and suitable] gift ideas for me will ye? There's a good lad....s...... :S ]

PS I know that much :) I just don't find it entertaining when there are no scores! But I know the rules, & offside! :)

Perhaps Brianthebard's suggestion instead of a dodgy eBay signed shirt would go down well?

Why would you pay extra for a shirt that is has a fake signature on it and comes with a fake coa? It's just daft.

I reckon you could go one better than Ryan Giggs' signature.
Get him Ryan Giggs (the actual person). He's getting on a bit at this stage and is bound to be looking for a new contract with someone.

We're in a recession, mate. She'd better just kidnap him or in this case I suppose it would be called giggsynapping.

Fergie will report you to UEFA for saying that.

Anyway, I just did a google search and got a few good results. There's loads of memorabilia out there.

    One example: http://www.uksoccershop.com/products/2309.html

Leaving it a bit late though? :p

You can pick them up for about the same price if you look around.

He might have a jersey already, are you sure he doesn't? Better check that out.

There is a shop close to the powerscourt shopping centre near Grafton Street that sells certified signed shirts,I think it is on South Williams Street. They may not have Giggs but worth a try.

get him a jersey and a blow job don't bother with this welsh hamster chested ****'s scribble.

Buy him a jersey and get this lad to sign it. Technically it isn't a lie.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,252 ✭✭✭✭stovelid

There is no way you can verify the authenticity of a signed shirt. Also, a ticket package to a match is going to cost you a lot, especially for a big match.

What about a year's subscription to MUTV or something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,061 ✭✭✭✭Terry

Leave him and go out with someone who doesn't support a team just because they win all the time.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 592 ✭✭✭BubbleWrap85

Decided I'd go for match tickets [v Fulham], flights & hotel = 400Euro but suppose I'm included in that [although it's 200Euro I could do without spending upon myself!] but I reckon it's a good enough present. Yes/No? :) Being honest, tis a tad bit more extravagant than I'd anticipated as we've only been seeing each other since September but anyhoo. May as well spend in this recession eh!

Ughh I hate it when people buy those package deals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 582 ✭✭✭damienom

If you wanted to get one then try here, it's owned by one of the football management agencies and sells gear signed by the players they represent.

Well I can hardly hand em the tickets & then say "Right, you go off and book us flights there & back & somewhere to sleep for the night!!!" He likes Man Utd & I thought it'd be a good present idea :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 592 ✭✭✭BubbleWrap85

Actually his favourite player is Roy Keane [yes I'm aware he doesn't play anymore but he was his favourite then!] so I should have just bought a jersey, took a trip to Cork & stalked Keano & forced him to sign the jersey. He'd have been chuffed with that. Alas, too late for any trips that far south. Oh and also I suppose I wouldn't stalk anyone anyhoe. Ahem.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 592 ✭✭✭BubbleWrap85

On second thoughts, I should just book 1 ticket, a single room & single flight. Save myself a coupla bob :)

Ah ye could have booked it all yourself. For example the game against Boro on the 29th is on General sale, throw in flights and accommodation and you would have saved about €200.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 592 ✭✭✭BubbleWrap85

I AM booking it all! All am sayin is tis costing 400 quid and although I'm really included in half of that, I couldn't care less about going to a footie match! :)

    Nice pressie though!

    He'll be well chuffed.

Great :) I'm gettin paid for 2 weeks over the Xmas anyhow for doing absolutely NOTHING so happy days :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 592 ✭✭✭BubbleWrap85

Also, it is very annoying seeing a flight work out as £68 for 2 people & then see they convert it to €89! When I use my converter it works out as €72. This is unfair :( I booked one way Dub - Man for €58 and would hope to do the same for Man - Dub. Think I've been stung & should have just booked it as a return :(

    1) If your fella is a football fan get him tickets to an Arsenal match

    2) Ryan Giggs is illiterate. Any signed shirt should be a crayon stick man and some dribble. If it has his name on it, it's fake.

    3) Roy Keane will sign nothing. Anyone that met the ignorant cnut will know the phrase " I'm taking five minutes" (although I like his moxy).

    4) Stick on a Man U shirt yourself and cowgirl the bollocks off him. If he doesn't like that he is a poof.
