    Hello,

Can a garage legally write 'Sold as Seen, No Warranty' on a docket?
It was wrote up before I collected the car (signed and dated a few days earlier by the salesman who i bought the car off, but was not present the night i took it home) and I know now stupidly didnt read for anything that could affect me at a later date (thought it was just a copy of the docket i got when i agreed the sale), but I did not believe they could do this, isnt the whole point of buying from a garage that you have some sort of come back?

When the sale was originally agreed there was no mention that the car wasnt going to be covered, now a few days in and I fear there may be a problem with the clutch. I want to know if I have any ground or am I screwed before I call tomorrow.

They can only sell to the trade "sold as seen".

There must be some sort of warranty if selling to the public.

But if they never actually said 3 months or whatever how would i argue my point?
Why do you think they would even write that down then if they can only sell sold as seen to trade?

They can in theory sell "sold as seen" to any party, although the vast majority of garages will only sell "sold as seen" to trade because this is what usually happens when you sell "sold as seen" to Joe Public. OP, did you not sign the sale agreement with "sold as seen" written into the agreement???

Did you agree to a warranty?

I signed the docket that had no warranty written on it yes (stupid i know, but genuinely didnt expect to see any small print), and no we did not agree on any specfiy warranty, was just asured that the car would be in good order and that car could be brought back if any issues came up.

My question is now though can a garage legally sell a car without any warranty and especially when it was never mentioned to me, apart from the dirty trick of writting it on a docket simialar to the one i signed the day i bought it, which didnt say no guarantee??

I bought the car with the impression of a guarantee, i mean why would you pay garage prices for a car if it only had the same come back as a private sale.

Garage is in NI too if that makes any difference.
