I've never heard of any Kyokushin clubs around waterford. It does not appear to be popular style in the munster region I've only ever heard of clubs up the country. Its a pity its a great style. However there are some Kyokushin people posting here so you never know they might turn up something.

Unfortunately the only dojos I know of are in Dublin, Galway and Mayo. I guess you'll have to move so. ;)

I love Kyokushin Karate. I have a Green Belt w. Brown Stripe [3rd Kyu IIRC] I wish the style was more abundant in Ireland. I would love a Black Belt in it someday.

None that I'm aware of, but if you want to train Muay Thai - which would be slightly similar to the concepts of Kyokushin, then I could put you in the right direction.

Where do you train kickboxing? Muay thai would probably be more similar to Kyokushin than to Kickboxing imo. Leg kicks are a very important aspect of Muay Thai & Kyokushin. They are hardly ever used in kickboxing.

It's up to yourself. Given there is no Kyokushin here, it's up to yourself if you want to train MT or Kickboxing.

i ment kickboxing very similar to muay thai not Kyokushin Karate .i train at w.m.a .also when i said leg kicks i ment kicks aimed at the legs which are not legal in kickboxing but kicks above the waste are and used very much .

I know what you meant. I also meant the same. Leg kicks are one of the most important aspects of muay thai, along with the clinch.

I know your gym. I assure you, the kickboxing there is nothing like Muay Thai.

    Osu Joe27.

Something that you could be doing in the meantime is searching the Internet for as much info on Kyokushin as possible. To start you off there's the Kyokushin Karate Encyclopedia on Youtube, or you can download it from ISOHUNT.com, but I wouldn't know anything about that kind of stuff :pac:
Also if you go to www.kyokushinbudokai.org you can download a free instruction book made by my instructor. Also see www.mmaireland.com/kyokushin/ for some Kyokushin highlights.

    Osu.
