is this been sold through a dealer?

im interested but would have to get rid of my hornet first so if it was through a dealer it would be handy cause i might be able to part exchange the hornet!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,795 ✭✭✭fish slapped

Peter I dont think a dealer would take a part exchange for a rifle he is only holding for a person, so it looks like a cash deal.

There you go Peter no excuses :D do the deal and you can have mine!!!:D:D;)

Vermin just wondering, why you want a hornet when ammo is twice the price of .223 and only has half the range??

the hornet is in good condition its claimed the life of many a fox and rabbit,

i bought it second hand about 3 years ago. if the .223 does not come with a scope or bipod then il have to sell the hornet with out the scope and bipod i have on it so will have to have a look and see what the going rate is for them

and also have a chat with me FAO:rolleyes:

the reason i was thinkn of a hornet is im only startn out with riffles i have 2 shotguns at the moment and havent much cash and i thought i might pick up a hornet cheeper than a .223 i dont know much about riffles or scopes what do you think yourself what should i go for and how much do u think i would have to spend

My opinion is go for a 223 and stop messing around, buy once and be happy.
The gun for sale here is a good deal and you could be looking at €1350+ just for the gun alone new.

Anyway the Hornets a girls gun.

IMO, a .223 is a bit powerful for a first rifle and a .22 rim-fire either the .22lr or .22wmr are most peoples starting point. the reason they make a good starting point is because they are cheap to shoot, are good to teach you about bullet drop, and its easier to learn to be accurate (for hunting )at shorter ranges to start with. Also a safe bullet stop is needed for all rifles but the .223 is a lot more powerful and can travel a long distance if it passes through the quarry. Time spent learning technique and the craft of using a rifle accurately is always time well spent. Best to walk before you can run. The hornet is an in between round as it gives the shooter a bit more power than a rim-fire but has only half the power of the .223 at 200 meters. so it could be a good starting point for someone who is used to handling firearms and understands firearm safety.

if the .223 is still for sale and my FAO gives me the thumbs up then yes i will be selling the hornet.

i have to wait for him to get back from holiday.

Great. What make and model is it?
I had a Krico a few years ago and sold it privately.
Very accurate gun sorry I sold it. I have a Walther g22 but it lacks the power for foxes.
I know the .223 ammo is cheaper but the Hornet is not as loud.

We already had the case illustrating the lack of right of the Superintendent to blanket refuse to license a particular category of firearm under any circumstances, so perhaps it might be worth having a private word with Sparks as to what you should do? He's far more up to speed than the rest of us on exactly what your prospects and options are here.

Exactly, good luck. Honestly though, it's already been demonstrated that a blanket refusal to license a certain type of firearm is illegal and therefore not a ground on which the Super can refuse. I'd apply if I were you anyway, create a paper trail.
