    Hi , someone I know is selling a 2000 Mazda 323f 1.8GT

Apparantlty its a rare enough car so am curious what its worth . Is the 1.8 GT a desireable car say the way a GTI would be?

Car has 70k miles , 2 year NCT

    Your thoughts appreciated

    Short answer is no.

Long answer is I'd buy one at the right price, but for a 2000, I wouldn't pay more than €3k for one in top nick with a full service history, perfect bodywork and 2 year NCT, knock off about €500 for mileage above 80k.

Also what colour is it. People who buy cars like this will tend not to want a plain silver or blue.

A bright red, shocker blue or black would sell easier, though not necessarily for more.

Saying they're making more on carzone is pointless, because if they were making more they wouldn't still be there.

That's not the coupé-look 323F, it's the one that came afterwards - looks like an estate car. It's not worth much, the best thing about it is the Nardi steering wheel.

That one's been there about 18 months at that price.

You got to laugh at the blinded optimism by that dealer. That car is not even worth a fraction of that asking price.

To the OP, no the 323f 1.8 GT is not or ever was a desireable car. I would even go as far as saying that in the current climate they would be sale proof.

If you still want one then buy it very cheap and be prepared to drive it into the ground.

Its the same as this but its blue , I dont have any photos - the car is not mine.Car is in Cork.

Anyone else hazard a guess on asking price . Theres only 1 other on the whole of carzone .

Lol, the state of that yoke. Although, i hope in 8 years time we aren't saying the same about the current 3 MPS, which is a lovely car. Time will tell.

That car is really only worth what some one will pay for it. And trying to get some one to buy that particular car with a 1.8 engine is going to be hard. There's a reason why there's only one other on carzone, obviously didn't sell very well.

Advertise it as low and you can, and take any offers after. It's hard to put a value on something that doesn't really have a market. It's more of a "specialist" car, for want of a better word. Not everyone will go into Mazda 323's to look for a 1.8 sports model. Maybe advertise it under a more popular 1.8 car, eg. a Golf, and have it cheap. It could just work that some one looking for such an engine could see it. Then again it might not.

The later 323f didn't have the same good looks as the earlier one, or the V6. only worth 2,000 in my opinion.
