Does anyone have any expierience with US Airways. I check the prices of flights with Air Lingus on Monday to Florida in Febuary 09 and the price was 717.Euro I went on today to book them and the price has risen to 989.60Euro and there is no way in hell Im paying that considering what the price was only two days ago. After checking every airline under the sun the cheapest I can find is US Airways at only 665 with one stop over in Philly I never flown with them before has anyone had any expierience with them.

US Airways are ok. All the carriers between Ireland and the States are the same these days. Service can be hit and miss.

You'll find that the standard of service between DUB and PHL is going to be different to the domestic flight PHL-MCO (Or wherever). I've noticed this about most American carriers: They compete on a budget basis domestically (Though they're getting a bit better, they hit a massive low a year or two ago: $5 headset rentals!?) but abroad they have to compete for traffic from airlines like BritAir, KLM or Lufthansa which don't play by the same cost-cutting, penny-pinching, nickel-and-diming rules on long-haul flights.

They will get you there , however some observations I made ( flew them about 2 years ago )

Service , just terrible , typical o fthe US airlines I am afraid service with a scowl.

Aeroplane... was a very very tatty 767 with paint peeling if the outside and quite a few broken seats which would make me worry a little bit. I have no reason I imagine to worry because anything important is logged etc , but......

I saw in the news recently that they now want to charge for headsets, blankets/pillows ( google it )

Ill be honest I wouldn't be rushing back !

I flew with them from SFO - DUB via PHL in June. I was supposed to fly from DUB - SFO via LHR and PHL as well bu the Aer Lingus plane was very late getting into Heathrow so I hd to fly with United instead.

The planes they use from Heathrow are nice new A330 with individual seatback screens etc.. However, they use 757's to most other destinations in the UK and Ireland. The 757's aren't very nice for long-haul flights as they are very old and single aisle, which means that you can't really get up and walk around the plane as you can do on larger planes such as 747's etc

The on-board entertainment is pretty crap with a few screens in the roof and you have to buy headsets to listen to the films. The staff aren't very helpful as there doesn't seem to be enough of them, so they basically get you to clean up as you go.

When we arrived in DUB we parked at the far end of pier D and had to use stairs to get off the plane and then had to walk for at least a mile to get to the main terminal..

If I were you, I'd look at flying with one of the UK carriers (BA or Virgin) through London or Manchester, the planes are much better and the service is much much better

AuthurGuiness, I was in the same boat as you, I was looking to book Dub-Orlando for next August. Had used US Airways before and found them fine (and normally the cheapest) however, this year I thought they had got very expensive. Try www.cheaptickets.com or www.expedia.com I was able to get flights with British Airways, Dub-Orlando via Gatwick for €1050 for two adults (US Airways were looking for €1600)

If you do go ahead with US Airways, they are fine, a bit more budget than some of the other carriers, they don't have seat back tv's and the food is pretty poor. But we have flown with them several times and they have never once been delayed. Philly is a very easy airport to get around. All in all, I would recommend them if the price was right.
