Does anyone have any idea where I would get a decent acoustic bass... oh it sounds easy but wait... It needs to be left handed :D

You can get a r/handed one and switch the strings. the one i have (crappy westfield) has a bridge piece that you can switch for left and right hand. plus there's no pickguard so you cant tell that its upside-down*

    * i realise that the use of this term only applies to right handed people, no offence lefties!!**
** i now recall there are some eq controls that may be very hard to reach

The whole upside down thing (don't worry I'm not offended) is difficult because I find, and this sounds silly, but it feels wrong. I had a right handed bass that was strung to fit a left handed person but it just didn't work and obviously an acoustic is different but i don't mind shelling out a bit more for a properly left handed one.

    Thanks though :)

Kinda OT but acoustic basses are pretty much useless or a novelty. They're not loud enough to be played with other acoustic instruments unamplified. They're more of a novelty except for maybe one or two very large ones (e.g. EBMM Earthwood) but those are like golddust.

I used to regularily jam with a few people(guitars and singing), and everyone heard me clearly with my ABG, enough that if I stoped, one would look up and ask why I'm not playing.

Its more about techniqe, and action, the action has to be a little bit higer than you would normally play, and you gotta play hard. Easily managale.

I strung mine up with TI Jazz Flats recently, gonna make it harder to be heard, but sounds far better, I prefer to play melodies on mine unaccompanied, when I do play it. If I need to play it out again, I'll just play hard, and add a pick to make up for the flats.

Was just looking on the Tanglewood website and found this

    http://www.tanglewoodguitars.co.uk/products/default.asp?cID=26463246&sID=66459071

It costs round €450 but you could probably get it cheaper with a bit of googling!
