Audi A4 Servotronic

I'm looking for opinions from people who have driven the new Audi A4 with or without Servotronic.

I wanted to order a car and I had included Servotronic as an option, but it would need to be ordered from the factory with an indicated delivery date of March.

If I was to remove the Servotronic as an option then I could have the car in January from stock.

Would it be worth waiting for? Would the steering be noticeably heavier at parking speeds without Servotronic? Are there any other advantages or disadvantages to having or not having it?

I can't see the added value of this, tbh. I mean, the car has PAS already, so it's already light.

Unless you spend a lot of time in multistories -reversing - or at v.v.high speeds, I see no benefit at all !

Either way, and not knowing how much extra it is, you won't get any extra for it when you do trade/sell it, whenever that is.

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

A lot of cars come with speed sensitive power steering as standard. VAG call it Servotronic. VW Passat's and Jetta's have it as standard, but not the Audi A4.

This option is not really adding anything to the cost for me and I'm not bothered by resale.

Just the driveability and enjoyment is what concerns me.

The dealer said that a lot of A4s are ordered with Servotronic. It made me wonder if it a necessity in an A4?

It's about €290, I like when a car has it, but I wouldn't be upset if I was driving a car that didn't have it.

When selling to a guy I'd rarely mention it, when selling to a lady I'd sometimes mention it and get them to drive both servotronic & normal cars to see what they prefer.

The only way to get your head around it is to drive either a non-servotronic and see if you're happy with the steering, or drive both and see if servotronic is worth €300 and a 2 month delay.

P.S. It's not a necessity - they put it as standard in the 2.7TDi, 3.0TDi & 3.2 because it's a heavier engine over the front wheels, but they don't think it's necessary for the lighter 4-pot engines.

Drive them both before you order anything!
