Well, looks like I may be cycling to the SuirRoad Luas stop and then riding the Luas now to work.
Anybody know if there's a place where i could lock my bike?

I live locally, there's literally no where you could put it...

Except... where the Luas stop is (on the bridge) if your heading towards Rialto (into towan direction on hte luas) and take a left, there's a series of railings there... but it's not the best area in the world and also it wouldn't be secure. Other then that I'm not really sure!

Another victory for our integrated transport system.

You're so close to town from there. Why not just carry on? It's no more than 15 minutes.

Ah yes the integrated travel system. There's only two park and rides (hehehehehehe) stops availible on the red line, which covers more distance then it's upper class brother the green line, and because it travels through mostly residential areas there's less oppourtunity to combine two areas of transport like the bike. But what can you do.. maybe one day we can have it all.. but by the time they do solve this problem the luas will be too old and we'll all be travelling around in our flying cars... At least that's what I like to think ;)

    Also...

    Maybe he works in Tallaght...

For some reason, I only think of people heading into town on the LUAS. Never going the other way...
I know, don't say it.. "They'd be stacks and stacks of trains piled up on top of each other in town otherwise.."

Either way, I used to live near there and I wouldn't leave any bike near the station all day.
How far do you have to travel?

There are a few new bike racks at the Goldenbridge stop (next one along). I wouldn't leave my bike in Goldenbridge.

Suir Road is about 25 minutes from Tallaght by bike.

just a suggestion...why not go over to James' hospital & lock it there. The hospital is less than 5 mins cycle from the Suir road stop, you can take a path thru a small park alongside the Luas track until you get to the SCR and then turn left towards the hospital. there's a dedicated bike park (covered) outside the main entrance & you can get the Luas from there. Tram cost wouldn't be any higher as far as i know as it's in the same zone as Suir Road. I live in the area & can't think of any other options.

Thanks, i checked this out. There are 2 covered bike sheds. Unfortunately they both require a key and are for employees only.

I wouldn't leave bike anywhere near the Suir Road Luas stop.

I've cycled from town to Tallaght numerous times and you get to Tallaght from the suir road in around 20 minutes. I think the Red Cow would be a decent place to lock your bike. Plus from the red cow back to the suir road is all downhill.

I probably will end up cycling it to Tallaght but not until i cure this chest cold i've been fighting for the guts of a month.

From where I live, my most direct route takes me thru Templeogue village, but that is one place i'd like to avoid as the "off-road" cycle facilities appear to be a major cycling obstacle to be avoided.
May try to detour through Kimmage, Manor Grove and come out at the M50 near the Spawell Golf and Leisure Centre.
    Is that crazy?

Yep that is one lethal stretch of cycle path alright - clearly the irony of where The Morgue pub got its name was lost on whatever muppets in the council planned that route. It's seriously dangerous so I used to just cycle on the road for that part and take the beeping that came with it. Cycling from town to Firhouse I used prefer coming up through Kimmage and go straight at the KCR - brings you down to a crossroads beyond Templeogue Village where you can turn right onto the Tallaght ByPass. That's how I'd recommend doing it unless Kimmage is far out of your way.
