ammo price rise

i bought some 222 sako ammo a few weeks back from country sports in newtownards co down at £10 for twenty, went back two weeks later to buy more and the price rose to £15. ??????

I have recently had same experiece :mad: Recession must be biting. and to make it worse it was the same stuff in the same place on the shelf. half percent rise in VAT was bigger than I thought :eek:

I wish I could pay that for my ammo. Just spent €86 on forty .308 Remmy Premier accutips. "sigh" They are good though I suppose...

Eep! I was thinking there must have been some move with the crash of sterling to up prices and not make massive losses on stuff being imported from the EU until I saw your post bunny. That is not good. I've been optimistic about ammo lately. Was on the Edinkillie site the other night pricing RWS R50 at 14 cent a round and Eley Match at 13 cent, Tenex at 19 cent. Looking forward to a trip over next summer to bring back some supplies from Bisley. Long may the UK economy suck. I do hope prices of ammo don't rise for no reason here too...

Lads Ireland is messed up on that front from my experience as the recession starts to bite people actually put up their prices. I now walk into my local gun shop and ask for "gold" bulletts based on the price I'm quoted. I also shop around and have bought bullets/cartirdges in various counties and I barter.....:D

It was .17 REM centrefire ammo went from €36 for 20 to €46 for 20, as I said same stock ! I advised retailer of my disgust and left. Bought ammo in another shop for €36 for 20 and he told me he'd just that morning got it in from Irish wholesaler :eek:

Lads dont under estimate the power of the barter and the turning on ones heels and walking away. I spend a lot of time in hotels and never pay the list price

+1 there cavan shooter.
Did the same myself recently when asked for €38 for box of 20 6.5x55.
Two months before had got some for €29 a box.
You have to punish this type of cynicism when you find it otherwise it goes from bad to worse. Vote with you feet.
