Does anyone know if its possible to change the codec an avi file uses without having to re-encode the file. Basically i encoded a DVD through AutoGk but it isn't compatible with my mp3 player (codec issue). I'd rather not have to do it again as it takes nearly 4 hours on my PC.

Pretty sure VirtualDub can do this.

I've never used it to do it, but google could probably help you out.

edit: actually, it would depend whether or not AutoGk outputs the audio in a separate stream, like flaskmpeg can.

seeing as AutoGk incorporates VirtualDub in its process (or did when I tried it a few years ago) I'd say you're out of luck on this one.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have a go with Vdub anyway
