    Hello.

Does anyone know what the difference is between a Ducati M696 and an M DEP(696) is ? I am thinking it means the second one is learner legal, because of the lower insurance group. Can anyone confirm ?

Yes it's got a factory restrictor fitted.

I'd also go talk to Ducati Dublin, they're a friendly bunch.

I'd recommend you check out Millsport Motorcycles in Ballymoney if you're looking for a Ducati - they tend to be a lot cheaper than Motopoint (even when you factor in the cost of travelling up there and collecting a bike).
I tried buying a bike from Ducati Dublin this year and I was very disappointed with the Duacti salesman there, he gave me the run around for 3 months before I took my business elsewhere. Having said that, the service department out in motopoint is excellent.

Yeah the sales guy I was talking to was a bit crap, I asked for a test ride, and he said well you have to buy one - no test ride machines available nor will there be.

For new machines the prices should be identical tho.

I wouldn't be so sure about the prices being identical, despite it being an Italian bike.

I bought a new Aprilia Mana up north during the summer - mainly due to none being available down here. I ended up saving about 500 euro on a 10,000 euro bike - list price STG 6500., exchange rate about 0.80.

If it was on sale at the same sterling price today, it'd be well over 1500 euro cheaper (including VRT and 21.5% Irish VAT) at today's exchange rate.

If a N.I dealer has one in stock, you might get a great deal, especially if you can haggle the price down a bit. (middle of winter, poor economic refugee from the south etc.)

Really ? I thought was one thing Motopoint DID offer, that differed from other dealers : (escorted) test rides?

That'd put me right off - I've spent too much money on stuff over the years to buy anything completely blind. That's why I bought my AA500 over the internet in the UK, tbh.

Bikeworld wouldn't give a test ride, and there was no talking to them, so I went all the way home, went online, and bought one from a dealer in the UK. Arrived on a pallet, by truck, to my door. Well, it being cheaper, and not being able to ride a demo one here, why buy here? They were offering zero incentive to buy locally, price included, but more especially customer service.

Well it's kinda on topic as we're still talking about Motopoint - I went over there about the Mana in April and made a dozen phone calls asking if they were in yet, being constantly being told they were due in the next week. They seemed to be supporting it and said they planned to have a couple of demo bikes for test drives, so I waited. And waited. So June comes, still no Manas in, I found a dealer up north who had one in stock and did the deal -didn't want to wait 'til the summer was over.

I was coming from a 500cc maxiscooter too (Tmax) so the auto drive is second nature and great in the city traffic and the extra power's lovely when you can use it. Overall, I'm really happy with it - 'tis a great ride! The false tank storage is handy if you're used to a maxiscooter's practicality but you get exactly enough room for one helmet and nothing else.

If you want some more info, drop me a PM.
