I am looking to invest in a 16gb Flash USB drive. Can anyone rec one?

Is it fair to say that you would only really need to back up game saves? And that they would be less then 4GB and so would have no problem being backed up in one go? (The FAT32 limitation I keep hearing about).

Game saves are literally kilobytes, a few megabytes at most. I'd be happy with a 1GB flash drive for save backups.

No doubt but I may (shock horror) use it for other things. Anyway, is there nothing else you would back up? Hmmm, I can't think of anything.

You can back up the whole system...that takes up quite a bit more space. :D

Yeah, I have no External HD so I have to be selective.

External hard drives are €60 for around 250GB, next time you think of buying a game invest in one

Still couldn't transfer more than 4GB at a time though could I?

The ps3 backup utility will take care of any issues like that - you just plug in the hard drive, press "backup", and off it goes for a few hours. It will give you a full system restore in the event of a failure - saves, game data, demos, movies,mp3s, etc....

You can back up the entire system (game saves, settings, demos, PSN games, movie, music, pics, etc.) onto an external HDD very easily. Just go to the Settings tab on the XMB and scroll down to System Settings. In there, you'll find a Back-Up/Restore feature.

I used it when I put a 320GB HDD into my PS3. I backed it up first, swapped HDDs and restored. Worked perfectly.

While were on the subject. Are external hard drives not susceptible to corruption?

The FAT32 limitation is 4Gb/file, not total transfer.
