I really am in trouble and I will be eternally grateful if anyone can tell me how to fix my pc.
Last week I noticed my pc - Dell Dimension 2400 with Windows XP Home SP3 - running slow [Task Manager/ Performance running at 100%] so I ran a few scans - Spybots, Adaware, PC Tools Antivirus - and they found nothing wrong, so I uninstalled PC Tools and installed AVG and it found three instances of a bug called [iirc] klone.t. When the scan was complete I was prompted to restart the pc and unfortunately I got a blue screen with a message saying roughly STOP: c000135 and The component basemxp32 is missing, reinstalling this component may fix it.
I have previously got the blue screen of death and just reinstalled the OS but I now have stuff on the harddrive that I can't afford to delete so that isn't an option. A friend of mine is going to try to help me to save what's on the harddrive to an externel HD but in the meantime I'm wondering what the hell has gone wrong and if I can repair the pc without having to wipe everything and start again.
Any help with this would be really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Hermy.

Have you tried rebooting into Safe Mode and doing a system restore?

Thanks Ed but it won't run in Safe Mode so I can't try System Restore.

Edit: Running in Safe Mode resulted in the same blue screen with the error code STOP: c000135 and the message regarding the missing component basemxp32 which interestingly returns no info when you google it!

Well if getting the data off is your main concern then id recommend using a boot cd with an external drive and copying the data off.
    UBCD

Another thing that might be worth trying is doing a os repair. Read the XP repair install of this page
