Please help, looking for some advice here....

Friend of mine just taken delivery of a '68 classic, all he has is a certificate for the car stating; /origin/year/manufacturer/cc. Yes all is legal but where does he go now to clear/register/NCT
Should he carry out any restoration prior to carrying out any of the above?

    Many thanks...

A certificate as in a licensing certificate? He needs to bring it (and the car) to his local VRO. I hope it's EU registered?

E.U. registered? & if not what are the consequences, think it may be from Oz.(?) Cheers!

I've never done it so this isn't gospel, but I think duty & VAT will be levied on the car; the owner will also be taxed on the shipping charges.

If he's already taken delivery he might get away without paying VAT. Isn't this done at the port/customs?

Regarding VRT there should be no problem. I registered my Fiat Spider with no docs at all. The chap took a look at the model and chassis number to confirm that the car was a '72 (or at the very least 30+ years old).

I'd imagine they'll sort you out for €50. Whether they'll be asking about VAT... I doubt it?

NO nct for cars over age 30.

    thank christ... emissions emissions

Go to the VRO and check it out, it shouldn't even take long, unlike when you are tryin to get a VAT exemption, that can take 6 weeks and they don't like to be hurried (Z Z Z Z)
