Rats/mice

Any ideas on how to completely get rid of rats and mice from outhouses, hay sheds, and anywhere near the dwelling house?

There has been enough poison put up at this stage and rats/mice could get immune to it. Don't know if a cat/s would do the job well enough.

Supposedly Jack Russell terriers are good at killing them instantly.

    Thanks in advance.

I know what it is like, think their gone and then more arrive.Anyway, have had a small problem with mostly field mice and a couple of rats in my shed and under decked areas in my garden as I back onto a field and the critters are coming in for the winter.I use all manners of disposal, trap/poison and as many stray cats I can get and between them all it seems to be working. The rodents love peanut butter and chocolate buttons. The poison should be placed in little bags of cling film as they try and eat it straight away but they bring it to their abode and everyone gets a bit to eat. The cats , all are local are fed by me in and around the affected area with the doors left open for them and hey bingo a Moggy arrives with a dead one for me.I do this under duress as I am not a cat lover.Have had dogs in the past but would never put down poison as they would have a go at it.Best of luck.

You have to keep poison topped up if you want to keep the area clear.Long term hard to beat a fightin cat

If it is an infestation a terrier would be good as they should kill as many as they can find.

If it is just normal autumn / winter stuff the cats should do the job but they will normally only kill one or two for the fun of the hunt and then get bored.

Poison and dogs don't go together very well.
