Braces up north

I'm 30 and need to get braces to adjust my top teeth. Waiting for an appointment with an orthodontist here in dublin. Will it be worth my while going to the north to get this work done? Will it save me much money in the long run? Any recommendations?

I'm getting my braces done in Newry at the moment. I've had them on for about a year. I reckon I've saved between 2-3000 by heading up north to get them done. I've got clear brackets on top (not ceramic and white, but actually clear, so they're really quite invisible) and metal on bottom. My total cost for all appointments, all the hardware in my mouth, my retainers afterwards, etc. is a little over 3000 euro. I don't think I'd get that price anywhere down here.

If you'd like more info, or my ortho's details, send me a pm and I'll pass them on.

FX, never mind going up North, get to an Orthodontist in Dublin before December 31st, get an estimate of costs and hand over a cheque for as much of the treatment as you can afford right now. If you pay tax at top rate, you can reclaim 41% of costs against tax, after new year it is capped at 20%. The saving you make by doing this will be at least what you save by going North and you will not have to take loads of days off work over the next two years. I know you can also reclaim on costs incurred in North as well but you are unlikely to be seen anywhere there this side of the New year.

I am a victim of the recession, therefore I do not pay the top rate tax. Someday soon hopefully, but not just yet. Thanks for the information though. Nearest appointment I could get is January 8th anyway.
