Slow Motion Camera

    This might not be the right thread but we'll press on.. Im just wondering does anyone know where you can buy a slow motion camera (at least 1000fps)? And at what sort of price? Can only find a few, all in america and cant see any prices

    a proper one or just something that will just about do that for you?

    in the 'just about do that for you' category I remember a new camera cameout this year with a huge frame rate (a consumer camera) and would not have been that dear either. any body remember the name??

    A casio exilm fh20 is the only one that springs to mind..... 1000fps+ in movie mode

    Yeh i suppose a consumer one would be fine, I dont need it for anything in particular, just think itd be interesting to have one. Thanks, hope someone knows a name!

    That one actually looks really good thanks, but at about €500 its a bit much, ill have to keep looking

    Honestly, if you're looking for one of these things for no reason in particular and you think €500 is too expensive I'd just give up now :D The reason why you can't probably get prices on the ones you've searched for is that its very much a case of , if you have to ask how much they are, then you're probably not some institute or university and certainly can't afford it. They're generally specialised devices used for particular uses, and as such, carry a commensurate price tag.

    Way to ruin my fun! There are definately some consumer ones out there, not sure how good/bad they are though, but your point is indeed a valid one

    You will be lucky to getting one for less than 500 notes..... As stated above its a very specialised area, I'm struggling to think of a dslr that will shoot faster then 10fps. Your best bet may be a camcorder, though I dont know any particular models......

    OP, if you're thinking of trying to do stuff like Radiohead's Street Spirit video, iirc they borrowed the camera from one of the Oxford colleges who'd developed it to capture a hummingbird's wings...
