Streaming Audio Problem In WMP

    Hi,
I have an odd one here. I am looking at a machine for my uncle, basically the problem is that he uses stanjames and paddypower for the auld horses and love the audio commentary. That's all well and good but a couple of nights ago he got in that antivirus 2009 yoke and after that his streaming will not work(it acually show it is connected and playing but no sound can be heard). Noe before I get castigated, I'll go through what I have done. I have got rid of all traces of that antivirus 2009 5h1te firstly. Updated his OS to XP SP3 and basically installed all XP updates after that. Updated his AVG and also ran a copy of macafee(from another machine) aswell and all was clear. The sound works normally when you just play an mp3 or cd or whatever. Streaming works in realplayer also and it is not browser specific as I have tried the wmp streaming in bot ie7, ie6, firefox2 &3. I have disabled/deleted add-ons and the rest of it. Installed codec packs and reinstalled audio driver and updated them also. Have searched high and low on the net and can find a solution. I'm sure I'm forgetting to mention something here but if anyone has any ideas or come accross this before I would really appreciate some help here. Oh yeah, stanjames and paddyp[ower don't have the option to use realplayer just wmp. I have also tried different versions of wmp and have tried all different network settings in wmp but the correct ones which work on my own machine do not work either. Sorry for all the rambling but my wee head is melted. Oh yeah, all the seeings for Windows sounds & audio are all correct too. Can't think of anything else to try, HELP!!!!!! Oh yeah, rolled back the system to before the problem occurred too, to no avail. I think that's all I tried...........

    Yours with fingers crossed.

Which 2009? Norton 2009? Did he pay for it?

There are a few other Antivirus packages on the web that are scams also: http://consumerist.com/5106707/court-stops-scareware-scam-that-tricks-consumers-into-buying-anti+virus-software

And are you sure you removed it properly, using the norton removal tool?

And to be correct the machine in question only has one antivirus program running.

Have you tried disabling the firewall.

If youre running AVG try and shut it down for a few minutes to see if that works. AVG has a habit of tempermentality in my experience.

Alamo: Cant he just stream in realplayer?
