I have bought the 705 with the European Mapping. How do you create a route and then load it to the unit? I have downloaded the Garmin Training Centre, however the map is crap on this. Thank you.

Use mapmyride.com. Create a route, save it to your profile. Then load the route again on mapmyride and save as a crx or tcs or whatever it is, then use Training Center to import the course to your Garmin.

Edit: you can also use Bikeroutetoaster.com to create courses.

Under settings you can control how many and what fields are displayed.
Menu - Settings - Data Fields - Bike Computer 1 (for example)

If you already have this viewable, you need to pair your HR strap with the Garmin.
    Menu - Settings - ANT+Sport - Accessories

    25 euro please!

Just make sure its tight enough on your chest and you have watered the sensors a bit otherwise it might not get a proper reading. That was my problem when it was not showing at least!

Aye, they say that in the instructions. I use mine without doing that and there is no problem. Maybe some bodies need better conductivity to help them.

I think it depends on how much flab is between your heart and sensor... in your case, none, in mine, lots :)

If you can, get Mapsource and use that. Mapmyride, Bikeroutetoaster or anything else that uses Google Maps is not too accurate. Alternatively use "go to" on the device itself.

Thank you blorg. Where can you get Mapsource for PC?

It's not 100% but I've never had any major issues with it.

You could try this although I am not sure if you will then be able to copy the maps off the SD card onto the PC. Generally it is a better idea to buy the mapping on a DVD rather than the SD for this reason.

The Mapsource link did not work. I've used the bikeroutetoaster website to load all my routes. If you set your unit to lock to the road in the settings, the route will move in to place.

Can not wait to use it on the road, but what fantastic unit.

I hope its not really an off topic question.. but if for example i want to make a route to Santry park.. how exactly should i search it? I am trying to find it through roads but i am having trouble..

Assuming it's on your map, you can search for it. Another option is to mark it where you know it to be and navigate to that mark.

Can you search for Santry on it? Maybe the park is actually called something else? Then you can zoom in and locate a more precise address.

It only returns results for Santry Court.. which from what i am seeing in google maps its a different thing. I ll try to get it with point and clicking then ..

    Thanks Raam!
