Pls move if in wrong area...

Can anyone advise, its for a friend, who's computer I set up once upon a time. At the time she must have put in a password to set up windows and I warned her to keep the note with the password somewhere safe. Today she got broadband installed, and now she cant log on to windows for some reason, and its asking her for the password.

Is there a way to obtain this password internally within windows?

    Thanks.

Would it be easier to just remove the password and create a new one?
Boot windows in safe mode and chose the administrator account, from there go into the control panel and double click the users icon (think thats the name of it)

From here you'll be able to remove the old password and create a new one.

The Emergency Boot CD includes a utility to blank the local administrator password.

You can download it from here:

    Usage info here:

Unless I'm mistaken that's warez

on a home system you can boot up in safe mode and logon as the administraor with no password, unless one was set , and change the user's there

    or http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/bootdisk.html
free password reset disk - seems offline at the moment :(
