Apple Refurb/Resellers

    Hi there,

My olde G4 Powerbook just gave up the ghost and I need to get my hands on a MacBook Pro to replace it asap. I also haven't got all that much money (around e1000) available so I'm considering the refurbished route. I've been scouring CancomUK, Compub and Apple's own refurb shops with no luck. Has anyone any other suggestions as to where I can pick up a refurbed relatively new Mac?

    Thanks!
    V

Adverts.ie has plenty of MBPs for sale since the new versions came out - in some cases, these are still within warranty as well. Yes, it's not the same as having the full 12 month warranty from Apple, but even if there's a month left, you could always buy an Applecare package to extend it.

I have one on adverts I'd be happy to sell at that price.

Thanks for the heads up guys. Adverts.ie is a smart little resource. BuyandSell.ie is ridiculous, full of scammers !

I had a look through Adverts.ie and your MBP does look tempting 440. I'll be in a better position to offer/buy tomorrow afternoon but the reason I'd prefer to go for one from Apple or a reseller is because I'm registered for VAT and this machine is intended for work.

    Thanks again!

Oooh. That is tempting alright. I need the machine for reasonably hefty Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign work so the MacBook Pro is really the only one. Screensize, speed and versatility.

I've since picked up a MBP/15/2.5/2/250 from the refurb shop for 1200 (990 ex VAT), only to discover a little defect in the screen. They've offered me a refund and will be picking it up this week. I'll probably just wait around for another similar refurb to come up.

Thanks for the suggestion DrunkMonkey. :)

That's a UK store link - they won't deliver to Ireland. Change the link to "ie", instead of "uk" and the price "magically" becomes €1,149.00!

But in any case, it sounds like the Air would not be suitable for you anyway - the first generation is notoriously underpowered.

    .

Put in a uk postcode with your full irish address including Ireland, wait until it gets to ups the courier and then call them to tell them it should be delivered to Ireland, they'll realise the error and send it to your irish address, I got a macbook for €594 all in, including delivery..

    where there's a will there's a way;)

Cool! I'm surprised that actually works but might be worth a try next time I order something big from Apple - I wish I knew that a couple of months ago :)...
