FORMER WWE announcer Joey Styles sensationally punched out ex-WWE champion John 'Bradshaw' Layfield during a tour of Iraq.
The incident took place last week and left Layfield nursing a nasty cut under his eye.

According to sources at Pro Wrestling Insider, the veteran grappler bullied Styles with a string of condescending remarks and actions, including purposely spilling a drink on him.

Layfield's constant sniping eventually led to an altercation between the pair a few days into the tour, forcing a number of wrestlers to step in and hold the two men apart.

An allegedly drunken Layfield managed to break free and launch himself at Styles who then "Nailed him perfectly with a pretty good shot" according to one eyewitness.

The blow left JBL on the floor with a bloodied and blackened eye and there were no further incidents between them after that.

A number of performers are said to be pleased Layfield has been taken down a peg or two following the clash.

The fomer titleholder's verbal abuse was said to be responsible for ex-Smackdown talent Palmer Cannon quitting the company after a European tour in 2006.

And JBL was also involved in the famous 2005 ECW One Night Stand beating of the Blue Meanie during the PPV closing brawl inside the ring.

But this latest incident was the talk of the day among the roster at the Raw taping in Philadelphia on Monday night.

The normally lively JBL was completely subdued at the show, as he knew the story was making the rounds.

It was considered doubly embarrassing for Layfield as he played a key role in setting up the tour of Iraq with senior WWE officials.

But Styles - who is employed as WWE.com's Director of Digital Media Content - played down the clash to those who mentioned it to him at Raw.

Possibly a long time coming :D

    Shin
