Wi-Fi Printer Driving Me Mad

    Hi there,

I am looking for a bit of advice. I bought a wireless printer a couple of months back. I set it up with some difficulty but I got it set up. A couple of weeks ago I decided to get a new router which I did and set it up. I then went about setting up the printer again. I had no problem connecting the printer with the router but I could not get the software to find the printer no matter what I did. I got sick of trying and left it. Two weeks later I done a factory reset on the printer and reconnected the printer and the router (this is something I had done 5 or 6 times before) and it worked.

Last week I started up my computer as normal and there was no connection to the printer and there has been none since.

Does anyone have any reasons for this, it is just so annoying, there seems to be no reason for what it.

    Thanks in advance.

P.S. The printer is a Brother DCP 770cw

One thing I can think of-have you assigned the printer with a fixed IP address?

Well the IP address is fixed on the printer.

Encrypted wifi network? Set it up without encryption first to test.

If the fixed IP address on your printer is within the DHCP scope of your router then your going to get address conflicts.

Change the DHCP scope of your router to be:

    Starting address: 192.168.1.11
    Ending Address: 192.168.1.20

Now give your printer the IP address of 192.168.1.10

Do you know how to assign a tcp/ip address to a printer?
