Audi autobox gear selector clicking sound

    Any VAG heads out there know about this? Today for the first time the transmission is clicking away in neutral/park when foot is OFF the brake, is fine in gear and changes gear smoothly and quietly. The sound comes from under the selector panel trim.

    I have an Audi Auto but know very little of the mechanics of it.

    Mine has never clicked

    DonJose, the solenoid was mentioned to me on AudiWorld forums, hopefully its a simple swap and they don't cost a bomb.

    Actually I just pulled that line from War of the Worlds after VolvoMans remark :D Hope it works.

    sounds like the locking solenoid which releases when you put your foot on the brake pedal to allow the gear lever move
