    Hi All,
Can anyone answer the following questions for me please. They are for a friend that lives in Meath (Julianstown).

The familiy have tv signal via ariel with rte and uk channels. They bought a UK freeview box last week to recieve the channels in DTT but the only ones they pick up are the RTE ones. However the RTE one have sound but no picture.

Q1 - Why can they not recieve the UK channels
Q2- Why are the RTE channels blank picture with sound
Q3- Is there any where to purchase a freeview box that picks up RTE?

    Thanks

Q1. DTT has not got the same range as analouge at present.
Q2. Freeview (A UK Company) use MPEG2 and RTE use MPEG4
    Q3. No.

Q3 You can purchase MPEG4 capable DTT boxes that (if you have the reception possibilities and the correct aerial alignment) will receive both Irish DTT and UK Freeview (search for MPEG4 DVB-T or HD DVB-T). There are also DVB-S/DVB-T combo boxes that are MPEG4 capable. if you search for combo satellite HD you should find something. MPEG4 capable DVB-T boxes are not that common yet as the UK doesnt use MPEG4 yet but as we get closer to offical Irish DTT rollout I expect you will see alot more of them.
