    lost in the post post!

I reckon €350 is a fair price for a day in the studio and an evenings rehearsal before-hand.

It costs a musician about €50 to spend a full 12hr day in the studio, with food, strings 'n' things and transport etc. Usually a bit more even;) That way you can concentrate without having to worry about parking or taxis or food or spares like batteries and stuff.

Not sure about gigs but I'd say about €250?

Guys starting out charge less, but I reckon what ever you'd expect to pay a plumber or a plasterer would be fair enough pay for any working musician.

    Hi,

What instruments and style do you need?

I play session on guitar and bass, I generally charge around the €50 mark for two hours and then €50 for every hour after that.

Accurate pricing will vary depending on what you are looking for and how much practice/reheasal is required.

If you are interested or need contacts for drummers, singers or other musicians feel free to mail me at twilight.state@hotmail.com

To give you an idea on real prices: It's $50 a song (any number of trackks) in Nashville, TN.; and that goes for any genre, not "just" country. You can take the money you save and spend it on the flights and accomodation, get professional attitude and the works! Go figure!

If true, it certainly puts it in perspective. You've done it yourself?

Iam an experienced musician here in Dublin, my advice to you is, unless you have plenty of dosh try to steer clear of seeking session musicians as they all vary, regarding thier hourly fees ranging from approx ten euro per hour, and between one hundred to one hundred and twenty per hour depending on thier stature and ability. If your project is exciting and you are willing to collorabate with likeminded musicians who do not require a fee, it is then that you would have to encorporate them into a guarantee by contract to enable them to recieve any returns via thier input,ie; royalties, if this would not suit then the route of session musicians would be the only option, and depending on the size of your project if you dont own an oil rig, i would suggest that you start digging.
if you wish, let me know how you get on by leaving a message as I maybe of some assistance. Best Wishes p

Yes, I've done it myself. It was 50 bucks 14 years ago (long time before the Euro came in and made it even better value for money!!!). Given the amount of talent in that town (can be seen busking on Broadway or Main or playing for tips in the bars); if you don't like the style of the picker you hired, just open the studio door. There'll be plenty others waiting for their chance to do better for you.

These days (if you are lucky enough to have a broadband connection) you don't even have to leave your own studio here. Just do it online.
