I have an 8gb memory stick band when i try to transfer my music etc its taking around 10 minutes to copy the files to it ?

Someone told me if i formatted it to NTFS it might speed it up ?

    How do I do that?

i dont think you can partition memory sticks to nfts but if you can it should be(i take it yuo arte using a pc) just right click> format> and then pick nfts

I dont think it will speed it up though. Is your copmputer old? maybe you only have a usb 1 connection?

You could also just have a slow usb stick.

Not all usb memory sticks are created equally: some models come with very fast flash memory that have fast read/write speeds, others are just plain slow.

When you are buying them how can you tell if they are going to be fast or slow?

How old is the USB interface you are using? If the computer is several years old you might only have USB 1.1, in which case the transfers would typically be moses-slow.

The USB 2.0 is pretty standard, it can never go over its speed...

It's not simply just a case of usb1.1 and 2.0.
