Just a quick question, I want to know if my Ford Escort (1995 face-lift model; 1.3L pushrod petrol engine) has an OBD-II port, and if so, where exactly? Thanks.

Is it an Endura-E engine or the older HCS? The Endura-E has OBD-II - it's on the left side of the passenger footwell (near fuel cutoff switch) in the Fiesta, dunno about the Escort. If it's the HCS engine I think you're out of luck as it uses some older ECU.

It's the HCS engine. Thanks for the reply anyway.

I think the HCS uses an EEC-IV ECU, I think there's specific diagnostic tools available for it but it's hard to find non US-specific info on it (and to make it harder there's completely different US Escorts which doesn't make googling easy).

Most useful info I found regarding this: http://www.scantool.net/forum/index.php?topic=995.0
    Doesn't look too hopeful :(

Came across this if you're still looking for one - someone who makes their own EEC-IV code readers:
