Hi all, I lost my power supply for my 500 gig hdd2go median hardrive and never botherd to replace it until recently.

Today I got a replacement and plugged it in but my pc will not detect the drive.
I have tried two diffrent usb cables but no joy. I dont think the usb sockets are responsible as my Itouch works fine.

The drive dose not even turn up in the disk management utility in xp.
    Im using windows xp SP2.

    cheers

Sorry have to ask the obvious question, is the drive spinning up?

Put your hand on it are put it to your ear. If its spinning you'll be able to tell.

Are you sure the power supply you got is the correct one? May be part of the harddrive is working but not enough power for full operations.

put my ear against it and could hear a noise that I assumed was the arm spinning.

Regarding the power supply its one of those mutl power supply jobs set to dc 12 volts which the back of the hardrive says is the required voltage.
