Before i had the cable going from the modem straight to the PS3 worked no problem.

Now I have a modem going to my wireless router and now i cant play , I need to open some ports and what ever i have no idea on how to do this and have tried following a few guides to no avail at all. The crack is i have my BT broadband modem going to the Barricade Nrouter .

the PS3 browser works fine and i can log into the PS network just cant play games. Can someone help please

So a connection test in network settings, and tell us your nat type (1/2/3)

just get a switch and put it netween the modem and router and run the ps3 off the switch, nat1 on auto settins and no need for port forward

modem is down stairs so cant get a switch for it as cable would need to come from bottom of stairs to the stop which would be a disaster :(

    Im nat 3 i think :(

    NAT 3 = fail

Get a phone socket in your wall in your ps3 room. Then put the router there and connect it up via a wire

buy a switch-they are cheap i got one for 25 quid unplug the lead goin to the router from the modem, plug it into the switch
get 3 more ethernet cables, plug one into the switch and into the router

buy a pair of homeplugs, i'm gettin devolo 200mbps
plug one into a socket near the switch, run an ethernet cable from the switch to the homeplug
plug the other homeplug in near ur ps3 and run the last ethernet cable from that to the ps3 and set up a new connection on the ps3,
just select auto setup and ya should have nat1 and trouble free gamin

hope this helps, let me know if ya need any more help
