looking to pick up a 32" in the next couple days. budget is 350-450. its just for the bedroom. i know feck all about tv's. anyone tell me if any of these are any use or feel free to suggest some alternatives:

    Samsung LEA456 - http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/1084476/art/samsung/le32a456-lcd-television.html

    Toshiba 32CV505DG - http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/895014/art/toshiba/regza-32cv505dg-lcd-tv.html?form=53#tech-specs

    LG 32LG2000 http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/1503931/art/lg/32lg2000-television.html

I guess these Samsung's arent as good as the top link:

Of those, definitely go for the Samsung IMO. Not a bad price either on pixmania

have a samsung already and happy with it so thats what i had planned on getting, but the contrast ratio of the toshiba seems impressive - 30,000 vs 10,000 of the samsung. does contrast ratio mean anything though, as i said, tv's aint my thing!

Contrast ratio claims vary hugely manafacturer and, afaik despite toshiba's claims, the samsung would actually have better blacks

Aha, i was wondering when you'd come across that one. There is'nt much between the samsung and the sony really but if i were buying, i think i'd get the V4000. It is'nt worse than the samsung in any big area and is much better in some ways. Black level is the main one, the v4000 has beautiful blacks, Probably a bit better too for gaming response

Beware though, laptopsdirect dont have the best reputation. If you decide on ordering from them, i advise ordering over the phone and paying via a debit card

    why a debit card?

edit: delivery is a whopping 50 euro. so thats 465 all in.

the samsung is coming out at 458 all in. given your comments about the laptopsdirect i might go with pixmania.

    or........ le32a451 http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055440450

The problem i had with laptopsdirect was to do with my credit card so i cant help but think that a transaction might go smoother if you use a debit card

Anyway, if you feel better ordering off pixmania(TBH,i would too), go for it. There really aint much between the two tvs anyway.

The best of all would be to get it from a shop alright. If you have a problem, you can just bring it back, no hassle.

Let us know how you get on:)

i noticed on the power city site that if u see it cheaper elsewhere, including pixmania and komplett, to let them know, so i sent them off a quick email.

only problem with getting it from a store is the fact that it wont fit in my car :( lol

Any opinions on the Aldi 32" at €399 in comparison to this lot?

i took the risk and went with laptopsdirect. not good so far. they claim my card was declined. AIB claim it was approved and provided me with an authorisation code. gave this via email to laptopsdirect last night. rang this morning to see where it was at, i was asked had i contacted my bank. yes! i emailed u last night. someone will contact u by the end of the day sir. DAY!!! eh do it now. ok ill will see if we can revert by dinner. still no word.

they have also overcharged me by £15

I have been in contact with AIB, if its not processed in 4 days it will auto de authorize. if they put it through and still mess me around then it may be the chargeback route

looks like u were right zonda. I even ordered by phone as u advised!

    O no:mad::(.

I'm thinkin that this is an AIB thing. EXACTLY the same thing happened to me. I'm with them as well and they even sent me a new bloody credit card when it happened to me. I wont even mention this shower to people in future. I actually feel sorry for telling you about them

well what happened me was i got a call from them saying my card had been declined and to ring my bank. rang aib and they said it was approved at 17.10 and then at 17,12 they tried it again which was declined. they spent the next two days trying to put it through, and i spent the two days telling them it was approved the 1st time, here is the authorisation number.

i was sticking with them because the payment was authorised so the funds were no longer available to me. but it wasnt processed so didnt come up on a bill yet.

in the end i cancelled it. rang aib last night and they confirmed the funds had been released back to me, but to hang on to my evidence in case they tried to put it through again.

luckily, and completely unrelated, i had got a Click card during the weekend, so i transferred my old mastercard balance to click and asked for the card to be cancelled.

in the meantime, its too late to order online, so i might pop up to argos in NI where a samsung le32a456 is £349
