problem with consolemodz.com

I ordered an R4 SDHC from consolemodz.com in November and that arrived and worked fine for me. I recently ordered another for a family member but when it arrived I couldn't get it to work using the same firmware - and just about every other firmware version I can find. The strange thing is that the cards are physically different - this one seems to be an R4NEW card (but the firmware from their site still doesn't work). I have tried contacting them several times over the last week by various means but they are just not responding to anything.

Does anyone here know what might be wrong with the card or is there a problem with consolemodz?

Sounds like you got an R4-III (which is not a genuine R4, but a clone). Should work fine though. Try downloading firmware from the R4-III site instead of the official R4 firmware and see if that helps. http://www.r4dsl.net/download-en.asp

What also might have happened is that you got an old R4 (which isn't SDHC compatible) and you might be using an SDHC card in it. What size is your SD Card?

The R4-III firmware doesn't work either.

I have tried using 2gb and 4gb cards with all versions of the firmware so I'm almost certain the card is faulty but consolemodz don't seem to want to talk.

I saw something on a forum somewhere (sorry I cannot remember where otherwise I would link to it!) to try the DSTT software on a R4III and it would work.

I guess there is no harm in trying it as I found on my R4II when I put the DSTT software on it stopped the need for having to patch roms.

bought one myself from consolemodz and i took me a little bit of fiddling what you need to do is format the memory card if you have already tried new software on it because it might be the wrong one and it leaves hiddedn files on it. so after you format the memory card goto www.r4new.com and dowload the files form here i think its 1.23 worked a treat for me.... try this consolemodz was a lot of help too

I eventually got in touch with consolemodz after I found a mobile phone number on a classified ad. The ad suggested looking at boards.ie for 'reviews' of consolemodz. When I called I was hung up on the first time and couldn't get throught again until I withheld my number, at which point my call was answered and I was given the exact advice you have given above. It did work but a little bit of customer service from consolemodz would go a long way considering I had sent a number of emails which were not answered.

Needless to say, I am now suspicious of any positive reviews of consolemodz.com I read on boards.ie especially when they are from users with very low post counts.

Try reading back over my last post for the answer before shouting at me.

I've always thought the same. Most of the posts from users recommending this company are on the subject of consolemodz too.
Was the number you rang an Irish number or a foreign number?

    http://www.r4new.com/soft/1-en.htm

This worked for me on R4 SDHC from consolemodz.com

Thank God, spent nearly the whole day trying to get 2 of them up and running

I use consolemodz.com alot and every card iv recieved has worked perfectly for me, on the front of the box in the bottom right hand corner it states the website at which the files can be downloaded at, when i began to use consolemodz the website was www.r4sdhc.com (files worked perfectly) but later cards had www.r4new.com (files also worked perfectly).

As long as you use the website stated on the box you will have no problem at all. I stand by consolemodz as they have a very very fast dispatch and delivery service and it usually only takes 2 days for me to recieve the cards, also anytime iv email them iv got a very quick reply and they are very helpful with any questions i ask.

Also, before you try to upload the files to your sd micro chip, it HAS to be formatted, dont know why but they do otherwise when you put the chip in the r4 card it wont work, trust me iv done it countless times..

If anyone has any questions please email me on reloaded2002@hotmail.com and i will try to help you as best i can.....

    regards
