So I went to fix someone's pc today, and turns out there was a mouse nesting in it. It was getting in and out the open PCI slot cover. Anyone seen this before?

If it got near the fans...now that could be funny.

Nice & warm in there I suppose.

You'll have to get him a little welcome mousemat for the entrance.

    I'll get my coat....

I've seen this happen before ... years ago when I worked as a field engineer, I was called out to a small business in Howth which had a 'hardware problem'.

Couldn't diagnose it over the phone ... according to the customer 'the machine was running fine last night, and seemed to have just turned itself off ... mind you, there is an awful honk coming out the back ... '.

When I got there, the stench was unmerciful. A mouse had crawled into the back of the tower, through the gap where a network card had gotten loose. For some bizzare reason, the mouse had chewed through a power cable and electrocuted himself, and slowly cooked overnight.

    Crispy critter. :(

Camera phones weren't around in those days ... prolly just as well.

That's so bizarre. I got a good chuckle out of it though. :)

No doubt there's at least one in the old computers in my garage. i have about 5 old ones just fecked out in the damp part of the garage, so god knows what I'll find when I go looking for parts if thats what you found in yours.

Gave me a good laugh too. Thanks OP.

Could be worse: you mightve had a virus.

Years ago, I was on the PC support (In Wang) talking to an engineer about a problem, when suddenly there is sound of some one screaming and the line goes dead.

He called back a few minutes later to appologies, but a collegue at the next desk had just gotten in a PC from a customer and had opened it to find some rodents inside, there was some panic (someone screamed) and he had had to drop the drop in invesigate.

Like your case, a missing blank in an expansion card slot provided access to the innards and the warm interier proved attractive.

Build a clear plastic looped tunnel going from the top pci slot to the bottom, imagine how confused the mouse would get....
