I reckon either would be good, personally I'd veer towards the V. Only thing is they come with fairly hot pickups, ya could always sell 'em though and pick up another pair if they were'nt your cup of tea. Those mex teles are good for the money too though!

I'd get the V out of those two. My bandmate used to have one and it was a really nice guitar. They're pretty different guitars though. Tele and V are different in almost every way. Maybe you should figure out what you want and what kind of sound you're going for and it might help you make the choice.

Just go for the Tele man, you can rock on the les paul and keep it clean with the tele, and at that, nothing stopping you from rock with the tele either.
    Tele by far.

    +1

Very different. Why V vs Tele to start with?

I think V's get unfairly maligned with a particular perception due to the unorthodox shape. In my experience with them, they're actually quite versatile, sonically. Yes, you can play Heavy Metal, of course, but the stock pickups can drive an amp in a very nice way and clean up nicely too. They don't sound as bassy as a LP, there's a satisfying mid crunch to what they do which translates well to a lot of styles. They're not just for Heavy Metal, trust me :)

Freddie King, Hendrix MSG - V.
    Led Zep - Tele.

Surely it's Albert King you're thinking of?

There's no better or worse here, they're just very different guitars, very differently voiced, very different feel, both with their own quirks and merits. It's really a case of play both and decide for the OP.

+1 to that! Hate this whole, les Paul Vs Stratocaster esque back and forth arguing. They're both different. That being said...get the Tele!! Hahahaahahaha the ironing is delicious.
