I have a M1710 bought since last year, just over a year old now.

Just a minute ago I got a message saying my battery is functioning normally but is reaching the end of its usable life.??

My warranty is up and I never got around to renewing it, can I renew it ASAP and claim a battery in a month or so.?

I think 1 year warranry is circa 80euro cheaper than a goddamn battery

Their batteries have a 1-year warranty, when that's up, I think that's it, extending the warranty before or after purchase just covers the laptop itself and not the battery (afaik).

Are you sure the battery is even covered for the original 1 year warranty? Didn't think they were, but im not 100%.
But yeah, the batteries have a finite life and when they are gone they're pretty much dead. You might have a use out of it, although at a reduced capacity for a while yet.

Possibly yes, but would i do it? Hell no. Get onto ebay or the likes and see if you can buy a quality replacement. Check feedback, and try buy genuine.
